Who We Are
Zeederbergs Leather has been operating in South Africa since 1985 as a private, specialized leather workshop engaging in custom orders. Our standard product range was established from training, mentoring and skills achieved by Morgan Leon Zeederberg while travelling in Europe and Sweden.
Our vision is to re-establish a practical and very high quality standard that will last generations. To do this, only the finest materials are used and at the highest quality workmanship. Our work is done completely by hand straight from the raw cow hide so no machine goes near our standard product range from start to finish.
From restoration to replication of artifact and antique leather goods to modern day luggage sets and fashionable items. We have worked on personal customized goods from the likes of Nelson Mandela, the wealthy and titled all the way to the working man looking for a strong, sturdy yet affordable product that will last as long as he does. Our work can be found in with a number of leading labels from watchstraps and jewelry to everyday leather fashion.

Materials Used
Predominantly we make use of vegetable tanned cow hides with the use of solid accessories in brass and/or silver/gold. Threads are waxed linen threads. We make use of stained dies, bees waxed edges, saddle soaps and dressings of an organic nature. We also have the availability of croc back and belly, ostrich and ostrich shin, buffalo, snake skin and, on occasion, elephant leathers (all vegetable tanned).
Workmanship
All the leather is cut by hand. All the stitching is done by hand using a traditional method which, unlike a machine stich, knots the thread inside each hole to ensure it does not unravel. All braiding is done by hand through the actual leather. Beeswax is applied to the edging to prevent moisture from entering then, the product is finished off with a polished dress to ensure long lasting protection from the elements. Everything supplied by Zeederbergs Leather is designed and manufactured with practicality and durability in mind. The style is of a traditional leather craft where the utmost neatness and care is applied whilst concentrating on all the finer details of the product giving it a flawless finish. We have some leather belts that have come back for small touch-ups after 23 years of use and the workmanship is evident even after that amount of time.
